What is your digital music quality?
Song previews are 64 kbps (kilo bits per second) data rate for faster download to your computer. In comparison, stereo CD music is about 1378 kbps, and our music is recorded at a rate of 4608 kbps. We encode our MP3 files directly from the original recordings using variable bit rates for the highest audio quality and smaller file size, aiming at 256 kpbs for for best fidelity. All our music is free of Digital Rights Management (DRM) software restrictions so you can use it on any MP3 device.
Which translation of the Bible do you use?
We use the New American Standard Bible translation. Copyright 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977. The Lockman Foundation continues to update this translation and the most recent revision has slight differences in word choices compared to the lyrics used in TIGIT songs. The New American Standard Bible is widely regarded as being the most accurate English translation.
What is a Scripture Song Memory Card?
A Scripture Song Memory Card is merely the lyrics of the song written down to help aide your accuracy in scripture memory. You can prepare these yourself. Just write down the words out of the Bible. (See "Where can I find the lyrics?")
Where can I find the lyrics?
The lyrics of our scripture memory songs are from the New American Standard Bible (NASB). There is only one on-line copy of this Bible that we know of. You can read it at this link: www.studybibleforum.com/bibletext.php
How in the world will I ever memorize the entire book?
Memorizing anything takes some discipline, but you can let TIGIT songs do most of the work for you. A method we found to be successful is briefly described in the "Scripture Memorization" page. Proceed at the pace you find comfortable.
How can I retain what I memorized?
It's not impossible to retain the entire book of Matthew by heart. Playing TIGIT songs as background music for about 30 minutes to 45 minutes a day, six days a week, should be more than enough review to retain your scripture memory verses.
How can I make memorizing scripture fun for my kids?
This is how TIGIT songs got started... Every other week we met with a small group to share our verses, and to enjoy a simple meal together. Each child pulled a prize out of the box as a reward after saying, or singing, their verses.
Links to other Bible Scripture Songs
Many Christians are recording scripture songs. TIGIT Music has concentrated on the book of Matthew. What if you want to hear songs from another Bible book? www.scripturemusic.com is a central location where you can find links to roughly 70 other websites that have Scripture music and Bible songs. One of our favorite sites is The Bible Study in Stereo which integrates Bible study with scripture memorization.
Why should I memorize scripture?
Dallas Willard, professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern California, wrote: “Bible memorization is absolutely fundamental to spiritual formation. If I had to choose between all the disciplines of the spiritual life, I would choose Bible memorization, because it is a fundamental way of filling our minds with what it needs. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth. That’s where you need it! How does it get in your mouth? Memorization.” (“Spiritual Formation in Christ for the Whole Life and Whole Person” in Vocatio, Vol. 12, no. 2, Spring, 2001, p. 7)
Why should I help my children memorize scripture?
Memorizing scripture will transform their minds for Christ, develop their ability to recall important truths, teach them right from wrong, and help them locate scriptures quickly in the Bible. Best of all, they will spend time with God by hearing His words.
